The Golf R clocks 315 hp and a substantial 280 lb-ft of torque with the 6-speed manual transmission, or 295lb-ft with the available 7-speed DSG® transmission.
Don’t underestimate the utility of the compact size: It has 564 litres of cargo space, which jumps to 977 with the rear seats folded. That’s easily enough space for a weekend grocery run, home reno materials, travel gear and whatever else you might need.
The VW Golf has been an ideal family car for people in a variety of life stages over its more than 45 years in production. If your family needs ever grow even larger, an SUV like Tiguan or an Atlas is a great alternative.
The 2024 Golf R comes standard with a 19" wheel and 235/35 R19, 91Y summer tires.*
